Abstract

Paranasal sinus mucoceles are locally expansile cystic masses filled with mucous or mucopurulent secretion and lined by mucous membrane. Orbital apex syndrome is rare form of complication that represents visual loss and ophthalmoplegia, but with minimal or no signs of orbital inflammation. We experienced one case of orbital apex syndrome caused by posterior ethmoid mucocele, which was treated by endoscopic marsupialization and steroid therapy. His vision showed gradual improvement, and ptosis and ophthalmoplegia also showed improvement 7 months after surgery.
